29 October 2013
Green Training 2013 has been and gone. The event, held on the 19th and 20th of this month, was an intimate affair with a small group comprising young activists from all over Ireland. Despite one or two minor hiccups, the event went swimmingly and was an enormous success.
The weekend was focused on environments societies, as every Green Training event is. However this year we extended the event beyond societies and welcomed a number of graduate activists. While many of the workshops that we ran over the two days - event management, effective campaign strategies, public speaking - were aimed specifically at our network of societies, we also added a workshop on "The COP" and director of Friends of the Earth Oisin Coghlan also joined the group to discuss the state of Irish environmental activism and the concept of "climate justice". We held the event in the new UCD Student Center and it was catered by KC Peaches.
