Take a photo - Show Solidarity with The Philippines

Typhoon Haiyan was caused by Climate Change. We know that.

Financial relief is much needed, but it does nothing to prevent the next Typhoon.

Join us in our Solidarity Vigil to show your solidarity with the people of The Philippines.

It's simple - light a candle, take a picture, send it to us.

We know that Irish people have proven time and time again that they are generous in providing relief to those struggling to recover from extreme natural disasters like the most recent typhoon which devastated infrastructure and killed more than five thousand in The Philippines.

But we know that the provision of relief, while well intended, is simply not enough. In fact financial provision cannot prevent another Typhoon hitting The Philippines again. The only way to prevent disasters like this is to reduce carbon emissions and turn to renewable energies.

So we are appealing to Irish youth to light a candle, hold it in their hands, have their photo taken and send it to us at youngfoe@foe.ie .

We will release all of our solidarity vigil pictures online and send them to the  Minister Hogan at the Department for Environment and ask our government:

"How many people have to die before action is taken?"
